Covid has gone up in some parts of the South Hams and down in others with the most recent available figures covering the seven days to December 24.

The biggest rise of 13 cases to 63 is South Brent and Cornwood with 747.4 cases per 100,000 people, next is Totnes up 10 to 72 with 806.8 cases per 100,000, Ivybridge up 4 to 96 with 812.2 cases per 100,000 and Dartmouth up 3 to 44 with 812.6 cases per 100,000.

Te biggest fall comes in Salcombe, Malborough and Thurlestone where the number of cases has fallen by 34 to 15 that’s 288.7 per 100,000, Kingsbridge is down 14 to 32 with 495.3 per 100,000, Chillington, Torcross and Stoke Fleming is down 10 to 42 which is 736.5 per 100,00, Wembury, Brixton and Newton Ferrers is down 8 to 55 which is 784.0 per 100,000, Loddiswell and Dartington is down 8 at 61 which is 827.3 per 100,000.

Nationally as of yesterday Omicron is now by far the dominant variant, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said it would stop providing Omicron-specific daily updates from December 31.
