A charity Halloween display that was created by neighbours Bianca Perret-Hall and Shannon Stark has raised an amazing £1063 for the charity Mind.

The annual spooky display was created for an event on October 31st at the top of Saffron Park in Kingsbridge, where the neighbours held a raffle and decorated their houses to raise money for the mental health charity.

Bianca and Shannon started the project last year “as something fun for the kids to look forward to and enjoy after the past few rubbish years”, and raised £1000 for Hugs for Henry, a charity that was set up by the Hallam family after their son Henry was diagnosed with cancer at just 3 years old. The charity helps families to deal with rare childhood cancers.

This year they chose the charity Mind, which provides support and advice to people that are struggling from mental health disorders, as they “know how tough its been in recent years”.

They also created a spooky maze in their garage to celebrate Halloween, and gave out over 600 sweets to mark the occasion.

The event, which was a huge success, brought together members of the community, with over 30 local businesses donating raffle prizes to the organisers.

In difficult times, as the cost of living crisis impacts families nationwide, this fun event was a welcome celebration for local people to enjoy.

The Halloween display attracted lots of visitors and conveyed Kingsbridge’s sense of neighbourly warmth, with other neighbours joining in to help Shannon and Bianca’s efforts. Neighbours Robert and Lottie Lee helped out by making brownies and selling these, which raised £160.50 towards the cause.
