I trust all our local anti-green brethren will be delighted by the government's intention to reward the developers of fracking with 'the most generous tax breaks in the world,' and to give £100,000 sweeteners to towns and villages which embrace it.

Fracking is a dirty and dangerous business with unpredictable long term consequences, guaranteed to degrade our environment.

How different things might if ministers were to offer bribes for communities to construct turbines.
