A double-decker bus ended up trapped in a driveway after a fallen tree blocked a town centre road for more than an hour on Sunday morning.
And police have given residents a pat on the back for helping to clear away the fallen tree and reopen the road.
The bus had reversed into a driveway in Victoria Road, Dartmouth, as it attempted to turn around and escape the road block.
It became stuck in the steep drive and eventually had to be towed out an hour or so later, said Andy Pitts-Hannaford who lives in nearby School Court.
'There didn't seem to be any passengers on the bus at the time, just the driver scratching his head,' said Andy.
Police confirmed they had been called to Victoria Road near the junction with Fairview Road, at 11.30am after the tree had fallen and blocked the road.
The police spokesman said: 'The road was closed for around an hour and a half while a local resident , who was also a tree surgeon, helped remove the tree from the highway.
'Highways officers were also on the scene and cleared away the rest of the debris.
'Police would like to thank the local people at the scene who were extremely helpful.'
