From Dartmouth and beyond: brothers Louis Chapman, 19, and Todd Chapman, 14, both picked up trophies this year for their respective achievements.

Eldest, Louis, was victorious at The Welsh Youth final earlier this month, with his team Cardiff Met Freshers, and youngest, Todd, recently accepted the award for best junior squad, of which he is captain of Brixham Rugby Club’s Under 15’s.

Mother of the boys, Hazel Chapman, said Todd began playing “as soon as he could walk”, with Dartmouth’s tiny tacklers.

Both brothers played for Riversiders, and then the juniors at Dartmouth Rugby Football Club, until the juniors folded.

At the age of 12, Louis continued his journey to Kingsbridge Rugby Football Club, where he was captain of the colts, then on to Churston Ferrers Grammar School, and the Devon Youth Squads.

Todd followed in his brother’s Kingsbridge footsteps, and after a short time at KRFC, began playing at Brixham Rugby Club, where he still plays now.

Louis flew the nest and got accepted to Cardiff Metropolitan University last year to study conditioning rehabilitation and massage, and joined the Cardiff Met Freshers rugby team straight away.

It’s not only rugby they share in common: when they’re not on the pitch the pair work together at Rockfish, Dartmouth.

The boys are grateful to their friends and families, Kingsbridge and Brixham clubs, and Rockfish family for past and continued support.
