Congratulations to everyone concerned with the award of the prestigious Green Flag to the Recreation Ground.
Would I be right in assuming that over the next 12 months that a similar effort will be made to bring Duncombe Park up to the same standard as the Recreation Ground?
Earlier on the year I attended a park's committee meeting to ask why the care given to Duncombe Park was vastly inferior to the care given to the Recreation Ground.
At the same meeting a Kingsbridge resident living close to the Recreation Ground asked for a new bench to be sited in the park, three months later the bench was installed.
I would like to remind the town council, the parks committee and South Hams Council of the work involved to get Duncombe Park tidied up and looked after the same as the Recreation Ground.
When mowing grass collection needs to be done, mower blades need to be adjusted when mowing different parts of the grass. The strimming needs to be improved considerably with attention given to nettle and weed beds around the perimeter of the park.
Additionally, the main paths need tidying. There are also a number of shrubs and small trees that need staking properly. The steps and terracing leading into Church Street need cleaning and tidying up.
As you can see to bring the park up to a reasonable standard there is a lot of work to be done. If the work had been carried out correctly in the first place there would not be a problem. Is it a case of 'out of sight out of mind'?
