A POSSIBLE storm in a tea cup at a Dartmouth cafe has had a happy ending.
The town council was baffled when 80 dinner plates disappeared from its Community Corner Cafe in the Old Market.
Despite a big turnout out of cupboards, the missing crockery has still not been found.
Now the nearby Dolphin pub in Market Street has come up with a fine dining gesture by donating 40 new plates to the popular cafe used by local groups, including Dartmouth Caring and the Over 60s Club.
Jon Pope, manager of the Dolphin, said: ‘It’s great community centre used by lots of people.
‘We are glad to help.’
Town clerk Tracy Rowe said the town council was very grateful for the generous donation.
The new dinner plates will be used on Sunday when Dartmouth Caring hosts a lunch for the Queen’s 90th birthday, and members are invited to enjoy entertainment later in the afternoon at the Dolphin.
