I have been pondering over Cllr Gilbert's gloomy comments in regard to yet another refusal (the 5th) being handed out to the land owner of the K5 site.

Could this long line of planning refusal possibly be because from the very beginning of this sorry saga the land owners planning consultants Pegasus have in my view, been obtuse with their single-minded determination to build on an extended K5 site?

I would like to offer a ray of hope and what could be the solution to the land owner to gaining planning consent.

Last week while watching Grand Designs on Channel 4, it became obvious to me, what the land owner needs to do is to seek out planning consultants that have not only talent and vision, but have the ability to produce plans that show how it is possible to provide the 75 dwellings and 0.5Ha of employment on the allocated K5 site as set out in the DPD without the 'pack them in' plans that their current consultants appear to be threatening us with.

New planners could show the land owner how it is possible to provide dwellings of a size and price that will meet the need for homes required by those living and working in this community. The result of these new plans could benefit all in the locality and there would be no need to encroach further on to green field land in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty thus making it more likely for the land owner to gain planning consent. A win, win situation for all.
