Fire crews from three stations were called to an oven fire at a shop in Dartmouth’s Fairfax Place on New Year’s Day.

Engines attended from Dartmouth, Paignton and Brixham following an emergency call at 9am

A fire service spokesperson said: “Fire control immediately mobilised three engines to reports of an industrial cooker on fire in the area of Fairfax Place. On arrival there was smoke issuing from the building so the officer in charge committed a breathing apparatus team with a hose reel to assess the situation. The cooker was removed from the building and crews ventilated the property. reduce the risk. Crews were on scene for 2.5 hours.”

Throughout the incident crews used four breathing apparatus; hose reel jet; safety jet; dry powder extinguisher; thermal imaging camera; positive pressure ventilation fan; and small tools

The cause of the fire is believed to have been accidental.
