Two lifeboats, an air ambulance and a land ambulance were sent to Noss Marina to assist a 65-year-old man who’d fallen onto some rocks and landed in a very awkward position, last week.

A spokesperson for the RNLI said the man had fallen headfirst from the rocks above the foreshore at Noss Marina and was unable to move.

They added: “The casualty was completely trapped, head down, after his fall. A work colleague of the man called the Coastguard who paged both Dart RNLI inshore lifeboats and the Devon Air Ambulance with a doctor on board.

“The air ambulance was scrambled and a land ambulance was on site. The volunteer crews assisted by delivering some Entonox to ease the pain until the air ambulance landed and the doctor took over his care.

“The casualty was extricated from his trapped position and both lifeboat crews helped to carry him, using a scoop stretcher from the air ambulance, over the very slippery rocks to the waiting road ambulance.”

The man was taken to Torbay Hospital for treatment.

The RNLI was called to the incident at 1.25pm on Wednesday November 24.
