A man has been charged with murder after a former Kingsbridge Community College student went missing in Wales.

Hollie Kerrell, 28, moved to Wales from Slapton around ten years ago after she finished her education at Kingsbridge Community College. She went missing from her home in Glyndwr in Knucklas on Sunday, April 22, and her body was found on Thursday, April 26. A tribute issued on behalf of Ms Kerrell’s mother, her three children, and five sisters said: “Our beautiful Hollie loved life and lit up every room she was in. There was never a dull moment with our quirky, funny Hollie around.“She was the glue that held our family together and she will be missed terribly.”Hollie’s mum and sisters told us: “Hollie was a devoted mother who loved her children deeply, she loved life and took pride in her work. Hollie was an inspiration to us all, providing unconditional love and support. “Hollie built a unique family connection between us all. She was renowned for inappropriate jokes and spreading joy to all who were around. Whilst at Kingsbridge Community College she made her classmates smile and is possibly the reason Mr Pope started to go grey. We will miss her, our world will never be the same, nor will the worlds of her three beautiful children.“The world is a little paler today, and the flowers are not so bright, think of her, let her make you smile and give her one last kiss goodnight.“There aren’t enough words to describe how much we love her.”Locally, she was remembered by school friends. Charlene Hosking said: “My heart goes out to her family and children at this sad time. Rest in peace Hollie. X”, while Jaz Gullett said: “Thinking of, and sending so much love to Hollie's children and my beautiful friends who are going through this heartbreaking time.”Lisa Cordy remembered being rebellious at school with Hollie, saying: “RIP you beautiful angel, I’ll always remember the first time you gave me a cigarette in Year 9 to go to upper school back then, and we skipped school that day and got into trouble. Taken too soon, love goes to your family. Never forget you beautiful x x x x x x”An online fundraising page has been set up to help her family meet her funeral costs. Friend Molly Hawthorne, of Llandegley, said she has set up the page on the JustGiving website with the blessing of Hollie’s family. An initial target of £200 was nearly reached within hours of the appeal being established and Molly, who had known Hollie since they were children, said the appeal is intended to help the family with the unexpected cost. She said: “It is such an unexpected thing to happen, as far as I’m aware, there wouldn’t be anything in place for a funeral. The appeal is just to help the family out.“It’s not necessarily intended to pay for the whole funeral but any little donations would be greatly appreciated.”Her husband, Christopher Kerrell, 35, was arrested on Wednesday, April 25, and was charged with Hollie’s murder on Saturday, April 28. Kerrell appeared before Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates Court on Saturday afternoon, wearing a grey sweatshirt at the brief appearance where he was told he is accused of murdering his 28-year-old wife on Sunday, April 22.He appeared at before Judge Neil Bidder QC at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday, April 30, where the 35-year-old spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth, address and nationality as British at the short hearing on Monday morning.Judge Bidder set a trial date for October 22 at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court. The next hearing, at Merthyr on Tuesday, May 29, will be for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
