Dartmouth Police found and seized a number of cannabis plants and hydroponics growing equipment from a local address.

PC Vaughn said: “On Wednesday, April 19, Dartmouth Police attended an address in the Dartmouth area and conducted a search of an outbuilding located within the grounds of the property.

“They found a number of cannabis plants at different stages of growth within a small hydroponics set up. These items were seized under the Misuse of Drugs Act and have now been sent off for destruction.

“As a result of this crime a local male has been cautioned for the offence of possession of Cannabis.”

Also last week, while on routine patrols, a motor cyclist made off from local officers. The motor cyclist was later located on a lane in the Dittisham area. The rider of the motor cycle ran off as police approached leaving the bike.

Following checks, it was established that the vehicle had no valid tax or MOT and no person was insured to ride it. The bike was seized for Road Traffic Offences and the registered keeper has been informed.

While officers were dealing with this incident another motor cyclist was seen to make off from police and it is suspected that this person did not have the appropriate insurance or license.

PC Vaughan added: “These are just two examples of recent incidents involving vehicle’s being driven on a public highway without the appropriate documentation. If you are in any doubt as to the legality of your personal driving documents or that of your vehicle please visit the DVLA web site: www.gov.uk.

“Drivers and riders of motor vehicles who make off from Police put both themselves and innocent members of the public at risk of harm through what is very often aggressive and reckless driving.”
