Waldon Athletic

U14s 1,

U14s 2

Dartmouth returned to winning ways in Torquay following last week's draw, but had to come from a goal down to do so.

The opening exchanges were even with both sides going close to scoring.

The opening goal arrived with 25 minutes on the clock.

A quick ball down the left channel caught both Jamie Burrows and Zac Fells out, allowing the Waldon winger to cross into the Darts box.

Unfortunately defender Jake Lawrence handled the resulting shot on the goal-line and a penalty and yellow card was given.

The spot-kick was duly dispatched and the home side had the lead. Much to The young Darts credit, they didn't waste any time in equalising as five minutes later they were on level terms.

A clever pass down the left from Charlie Blair was latched on to by Cameron Webb, who skipped past his marker before drilling his shot past the 'keeper.

The second half saw Dartmouth playing down the slight slope, with the winds at their backs, and they dominated their opponents for the most part.

10 minutes in and a lovely move down the right involving Jack Carter and Burrows produced a good ball into the box, where Connor Elliott controlled well before being pushed to the floor and a penalty was awarded.

The ever-reliable Joe Turner stepped up, only to be thwarted by a superb save.

Some excellent Dartmouth defending from Ryan Burrows and Kieran Doyle kept out any Waldon counter attack.

The winner came when a ball over the top from Wadeson fell perfectly into the path of Tom Matthews who, from fully 35 yards out, hit an absolute screamer which flew into the top right-hand corner.

The win keeps Darts second in the table with a game in hand.

That game is this coming Sunday at Longcross, where they host Denbury Athletic in an 11am kick-off and again all support is very welcome.
