The seventh race in the Royal Dart Yacht Club Wednesday series sponsored by Nonsuch House took place on July 1.

A fleet of 25 yachts ranging from 19ft Squibs to the 60ft Classic Pazienza raced off the mouth of the river Dart in almost perfect conditions. No wonder they were smiling.

The youngest competitor was just 10 years old and the oldest.... Well, that would be telling, but he was over 70.

There are three classes. On Wednesday the slow handicap race was won by Tricia Broad­bent in 'Genie of Dart'; the fast handicap race by Jerry and Max Round-Smith in 'Avrio' and the Squib fleet was won by Simon Unwin and Judith Thomas in 'Mimosa'. Each winner received a highly prized jar of Nonsuch House homemade jam.
