Dartmouth ladies
The first festive competition for the ladies of the Championship Course and the Dartmouth Course was played on Tuesday by 18 lady golfers of Dartmouth Golf and Country Club.
Silly hats were to be worn throughout the course of play, which only lasted nine holes due to the cold sleet showers and driving rain.
All hats survived the duration with only a few casualties.
Teams of three ladies were drawn by lady captain Jan Thomas Gourd on the morning of the competition.
It was decided by Jan Cousins, competition secretary, to play a Texas scramble, with a handicap of 10 per cent of the combined handicaps.
The winners were Liz Sharman, Mary Thompson and Marilyn Lucas, who came in with a net score of 34 having made par on all but one of the holes during the round.
The silly hat competition was juged by head golf professional Rob Glazier and he awarded this to birthday girl Eileen Parkes.
