Last Sunday saw the finals day of the highly competitive Dartmouth Twenty20 cricket competition, and in traditional T20 format, the day saw both semi-finals and the final being played on the same day.
After a gruelling league season, the two semi-finals saw the Dolphin Inn take on the Dartmouth Arms, while in the other semi the Ship in Dock Inn took on the champions for the last two years, the multi-talented Dartmouth AFC.
After the Dolphin Inn dispatched the DA and the Ship in Dock went down to the might of the football club, the stage was set for the final showdown, with the eager spectators looking forward to a feast of big hitting and fast bowling in this exciting format.
In the event, the final did not perhaps see the fireworks that many were hoping for, with the football club's bowlers keeping it tight to dismiss the Dolphin Inn for a below-par total of 78 all out. In reply, the footballers-turned-cricketers eased to victory for the loss of only two wickets to claim the trophy for the third year in a row.
