Dartmouth ladies
On Tuesday, November 26, the Dartmouth ladies followed in the footsteps of Egyptologist Howard Carter, who discovered Tutankhamun's tomb on the same date in 1922, by playing a pyramid competition.
This event allowed the stableford scores to be enhanced by trebling them on hole one, doubling on hole two and remaining single on hole three, and then in rotation for the remaining 15 holes.
Needless to say, there were some high scores, with Tina Scanlan coming first with 66 points, Chris Mayer second with 63 and Margaret Taylor third with 60 points.
The next day was the charity event Movember, where competitors sported their take on a moustache. Eight ladies joined a large field of players in a greensome competition.
It was a great event, the weather was lovely, and with a shotgun start everyone was able to get together afterwards for refreshment and entertainment.
Margaret Taylor and Thelma Lobb won first prize for the ladies with 32 points, beating Jan Cousins and Mary Thompson by one point, and Jan Cousins won the ladies' longest drive.
Competing against the whole field, Margaret Taylor got closest to the marker pole on the 15th (just pipping husband Bernard for that prize!), Jan Cousins was nearest the pin on hole five and Chris Mayer was closest on the 18th.
