Dartmouth ladies

The ping competition started off with low clouds, misty rain and wind howling, another lovely golfing day, but the ladies were adamant that the competition should be played.

The competition was played in pairs and entrants came in with some very good scores. In first place were Barbara Parkin (27) and Marilyn Lucas (16) with 38 points between them, while second place winners with 37 points were Jan Cousins (18) and Jan Brooking (15).

The course looked a little more friendly this Tuesday. The ladies were playing for two trophies today, the Hardy Jones for golfers with a handicap of 24 and above and the Yeoman Trophy 0-24 handicap.  Sylvia Shalders was the winner of the Hardy Jones with a score of net 81 and Jan Cousins came in with a score of net 76 beating our lady captain Mary Thompson on the back nine... Well done to all who entered.

Dartmouth ladies were due to play Bovey Tracy in a friendly match on Wednesday. 'All us ladies love playing these events, we get to see and play some beautiful courses, meet lovely lady golfers, and get a chance to get out of cooking an evening meal for our husbands' – sorry John, it was your wife Jan Cousins that stated that fact...

On Sunday, June 23, it will be Dartmouth Golf and Country Club's captain's charity day. This will be hosted by joint husband and wife team David and Mary Thompson, who will be running the day, then organising an auction.

This auction is open to all members of the club along with friends and families.

The day will raise money for David and Mary's chosen charities Parkinson's and Alzheimer's and will allow many golfers the opportunity to meet up enjoy the course and socialise. Please pray for a nice warm sunny June day.
