A brisk cold wind greeted the players for the Wednesday circus, even so a good number turned out to play.
Barry O'Shea was playing well until he had a fit of the shanks. Try as he might he could not get it out of his system, so on the fringe of the 16th faced with what should have been a 40-yard chip, he got his putter out instead and three putted but at least it broke the momentum and he managed to finish without repeating the dreaded word.
There's no doubt about it, though, it was Steve Owen's day. He scored 21 on the front and was convinced it wouldn't be enough, but it was. 38 overall was a good score on the day but he didn't believe that would win either. You could tell he was anxious as he asked every player that came in: 'Any good Ron?' or 'how'd you get on Andy?'

The men's monthly medal, Badger Trophy round one and the Lombard Trophy qualifier was unfortunately cancelled due to bad weather and will be rescheduled.
A brave group of 14 players decided to play nine holes despite the thick fog and two outstanding scores came in.
Bob Wotton scored 21 points and was very pleased, but beating that by four points was Roger Mawson, who scored an amazing 25 points playing off a handicap of eight, which included fivebirdies.
