Petroc division one

Dartmouth 7,

As the old saying goes, a week is a long time in hockey...

Last week Dartmouth were on the receiving end of a drubbing, this week Dartmouth was handing out a drubbing.

It was a brilliant display of how a team should play a team game.

Once again Ellie Malley was there when called upon, Mandy Servan put in a brilliant shift, scoring five goals, being supplied with good service from Becca Squires.

Sarah Barrett kept the midfield busy, Lauren Rogers and Lisa Hunt linked up well on the right and Chelsea Rendle, along with Hannah Pillar, kept the defence tight.

Dartmouth showed their intent straight from the off. And with just four minutes gone Julie Pillar took a free hit just outside the opposition’s 25, Julie passing the ball to Sarah Barrett, Barrett passing to Lucy Pillar, Lucy taking the shot on and Mandy Servan picking the rebound and starting the goal fest for Dartmouth.

The second goal came just two minutes after, Mandy once again being in the right place at the right time for goal number two.

Dartmouth had 90 percent of the possession, with Lisa Hunt going close along with Lucy Pillar, and Mandy Servan scored another goal to take her tally for the morning to three.

Lisa did eventually get a goal with just three minutes to go until half time.

The half-time talk was a bit easier this week so Lucy Pillar simply asked the Dartmouth ladies to give her another 35 minutes like the first and they didn’t disappoint.

With just three minutes played Lisa Hunt got on the score sheet again with a well-taken goal from open play, Lisa giving it the toilet chain celebration.

With Newton trying to press for a goal, Chelsea Rendle picked the pocket of a Newton attacker and passed the ball to Hannah Pillar.

She swept the ball to sister Lucy, Lucy laid the ball back to Sarah Barrett and Sarah supplied Lisa with a well-worked goal.

Dartmouth well and truly had their tails up now, piling on the pressure, and it was all Newton could do just to keep Dartmouth outside their 25.

From then on it was the player of the match Mandy Servan making a nuisance of herself on the left wing and taking another two goals.

Lucy Pillar made way for Alice Wall, giving Alice a 10-minute spell on the wing.

After the game the Dartmouth ladies went back to the Old Inn and Halwell for a well-deserved meal presented by Juliet and Steve.

The match was sponsored by Eugene Boje, who owns Harbour Dental in Dartmouth. Dartmouth are in action again this Saturday when Dawlish take on the Dartmouth ladies.
