There was only one race at Dittisham Sailing club last Sunday due to an early morning spring tide. Race officer Patrick Bromley set a sausage/triangle course in the middle of the river, but with the bias on the starboard end of the line. Eagle-eyed starter Susi Stockbridge spotted that James Dodd's Phantom was over the line and he had to return.  Immediately Sam Mogridge in his Laser showed a clean pair of heels to the rest of the fleet, followed by fellow Laser sailors Bevis Wright and Peter Symons. The tide was ebbing strongly and a number of boats fouled the underwater line on the windward mark and had to do turns. At the finish it was Sam Mogridge that won both on the water and on handicap. Some of the gusts were strong and this caught out laser sailor Paul Mogridge, who was unlucky to capsize a number of times but still managed to finish.  The Solo fleet had an exciting and close race with series leader Jonathan Weeks leading at the start of the race and a battle developed with fleet captain Richard Allen. Places changed until Mike Bennett, who had been in third place, nipped into the windward mark on give way port and took the lead which he held to the finish line.  The Dittisham sailors will compete for the River Dart Cup this coming Sunday. This is a traditional race up river starting from opposite Dittisham Mill Creek at noon.   Results Summer Points PY fleet 1 S Mogridge, Laser; 2 B Wright, Laser; 3 P Symons
