On Sunday, September 4, six runners from Dartmouth Amateur Athletic Club and Cilla Harding, a friend of Ali McGrigor and Marie Jones down on holiday from Kinvere, travelled to Plymouth to do the Plymouth Coasters Five Miler.
It was an early start, as the race kicked off at 8.30am, but on a perfect morning for running, they set off for the flat and fast race.
The first home for Dartmouth was Ian Thomas in 34.17, placed 10th, next was Nick Roberts in 35.54, placed 15th. Artur Szyperek in 36.28 came 18th, John Hart in 37.00 was 21st, Marie Jones in 45.59 placed 51st and Cilla Harding in 47.37 placed 57th out of 90 finishers. Ali McGrigor was injured so helped Marshall instead.
On August 29, a blistering hot, sunny bank holiday Monday, three mad runners from DAAC decided to run the Lustleigh 10k.
It’s one of the hardest 10k races in the area, so the runners were pleased with their results.
Ian Thomas was 27th in 47.41, Artur Szyperek came 57th in 53.26 and John Hart was 70th in 57.29.
