Dartmouth RFC's Junior Cup game against South Molton was cancelled at the eleventh hour on Saturday.
Dartmouth was to take up a big squad on this occasion but Molton's coach informed Dartmouth that all three pitches had standing water on them and were unplayable.
Dartmouth really needed that game to go ahead because the players haven't had a competitive match since December 15, when they beat Totnes.
Dartmouth have a home game this weekend, fingers crossed, against the University of Exeter.
Steve Atkins, Chris Chater and Lee Chase will have to have their wits about them and teach Exeter a lesson or two.
Dartmouth beat the Uni last year but, be under no illusion, the Uni boys, who are top of Devon One, will do their utmost to stop Dartmouth from repeating what they did to them last season.
With Dartmouth's win against Totnes in December, Dartmouth still lie bottom of Devon One, but it's not all doom and gloom.
Dartmouth have four points, Salcombe have eleven points, Torrington thirteen points and Topsham have fourteen points. If Dartmouth were to beat Exeter that would give Dartmouth eight points, Salcombe have to travel to Topsham and Torrington host Plymstock Albion Oaks.
A dream result for Dartmouth would be if Salcombe draw with Topsham and Plymstock Oaks beat Torrington.
Steve Atkins signed a new player last week a young lad, Dan Jones, who plays in the three-quarters, just what Dartmouth need. Dan used to play in Wales and then his family moved back to Devon, so the club will give Dan a run out this week.
If you've got a couple of hours spare this Saturday and would like to be entertained, bring up your wife and kids and cheer Dartmouth on as a lot of you did against Totnes.
Kick off is at 2.30pm at Norton Playing Fields, hopefully the sun will be shining and Dartmouth will give you an entertaining afternoon. I can assure you Dartmouth are champing at the bit.
The match balls were kindly sponsored by Nichola Thompson, who regularly cheers Dartmouth on at home and away.
The club offers its thanks to Nichola.
