Dartmouth take on Torquay II tomorrow at Torquay's main pitch at 3pm, hoping to get a good work out ahead of their league opener the following weekend.
The Riversiders are battered and bruised after last week's encounter with Salcombe, though with Aaron Hunt out with a dislocated knee, Richard Lobb with facial stitches and a sprained wrist for Luke Bridgwood.
Combining this with other players' work commitments messes up Steve Atkins' plans for the first league game with the University of Exeter on the September 29.
New signings Luke Chase, Luke Clements and Danny Borrow will strengthen the Riversiders and perhaps get Dartmouth on winning ways in Devon One.
Both teams are newly promoted from Devon Two last season and will have their work cut out, but with good fortune and no more injuries Dartmouth should consolidate their position in this league.
Make no mistake, Torquay will want to go out and win this friendly, while Dartmouth will enjoy the challenge and more match fitness against a side that are always a solid, reliable, technical unit.
Hopefully players like John Dingle, Jerry Whiltshire, Reg Varney, Carl Caunter and Ben Peters, to name just a few, can put in a good shift. Dartmouth hope to take a good strong side to Exeter and hopefully the injuries that occurred last season won't come back and haunt the club.
Players like Jake Bridgwood coming off after just ten minutes, closely followed by Sam Churchill, didn't do the club's prospects any favours at all.
The second half of the season was no better, with Jerry Whiltshire coming off with a neck injury that lasted eight weeks with treatment.
Atkins will want to start this campaign off with a win and will hope he has a glut of fit players to pick come next Friday, ready for the relatively short excursion to Exeter.
Dartmouth's next home game will be against New Cross at Norton Playing Fields on Saturday, October 6.
