Dittisham finished their season with a sixth straight loss away to Buckfastleigh Rangers last Thursday, bringing a curtain down on a very up and down campaign.

The Plums started in scintillating form after a fantastic preseason, not losing until early 2015.

New signing LeeRoy Prestage took no time at all to settle, scoring five goals in his first two games, and he continued in much the same vein until the final two months of the season, scoring 25 goals.

His influential partner Sammy Bruckner was also in inspired form as he hit the net 13 times.

Another player who excelled after joining was 'keeper Ross Williams, who kept nine clean sheets during the season and earnt the captain's armband after Dean Martyn was promoted to assistant manager.

The big centre half and his partner and manager Hank Bastin were rocks all season, along with the ever-present right-back Jake Blamey and left-back Simon Passmore.

The defence finished the season having only conceded 32 goals, just one shy of being the best in the league, behind champions Liverton United.

The midfield was dealt a blow early in the season when vice captain Joe Blamey unfortunately sustained a broken leg which ruled him out for what could end up being two years.

However 40-something Dave Vicary, Joe Kirby, Marcus Copeman and Chris Fisher all starred at some point throughout the season.

Ciaran Daniels signed in January and quickly provided another useful option, whether across the back line or anywhere in midfield.

In a season with many unforgettable wins, most notably 2-0 away to Torbay Police, 3-0 away to runners-up AFC Staverton and a 2-1 extra time intermediate cup victory against division four winners Liverton, most players highlights will be a fantastic Herald Cup win, during which Teignmouth reserves of division two were thrashed 4-2 at the meadow.

The Plums were eventually knocked out by beaten finalists Beesands.

Dittisham finish this season in fourth place and will have to wait to find out whether there is to be a promotion.

However, that is not the end of the football seen at Shinners Meadow this season.

Club stalwart Alex Partridge has selected a number of ex-players to play alongside in his testimonial match tomorrow, which kicks off at 2pm.

Anyone is welcome to come and watch the game, which promises laughs from the first minute until the last.

The club would like to say thank you to Forbes rentals for providing this season's kit and a huge thank you to Victor Andrews and his team for keeping the pitch one of the best in the league.
