Because it was so popular last time another bogey competition was played last Wednesday at Dartmouth.
The weather was set fair for the time of year, which allowed some good scores to be returned.
In first was Paul Dunkerley +3. Second Mike Shaldres +1, third Rod Hawke +1, fourth Mark Lord +1 and fifth George Reeve 0, who also had a magnificent two on the second when he holed his second shot from 150 yards.
The third round of the winter knockout was played on Saturday; despite the torrential rain in the early morning the course remained open and play started as usual.
Kevin Eighteen and vice captain Ian Metchette beat Gordon Kidd and Steve Owen on the 20th. Martin Howlett and Harry Lord beat John Garner and Bob Wotton on the 19th.
Alan Goldthorpe and Geoff Penhale beat Rob Knight and Sam Knight on the 18th. Brian Mushens and club captain David Thompson beat Rob Isaacs Berry and Graham White.
This puts Martin Howlett and Harry Lord on top with six points and following in their wake on four points are Chris Eddowes and Dave Brooking.
Following them are Mark Lord and Dave Nichols, then Alan Goldthorpe and Geoff Penhale, who was slightly wounded after the annual handicap review saw fit to increase his handicap from 8 to 10, meaning that his record of having a single figure handicap for the last 47 years has gone. Still all is not lost Geoff, as having a handicap of 10 at 74 isn't too shabby!
There was a small circus played for those not in the winter league and David Brooking made the most of Lee Marels not being there and scored an amazing 24 points on the front nine and 41 overall.
The back nine was won by a guest of John Wood, Clive Westwood, with 17.
Meanwhile John Wood had his own highlight to celebrate, he holed his second shot on six for five points.
