Again four mad men from Dartmouth in the heat did the 28th year of the Haytor Heller on Saturday, July 20.

A complete off-road course of pure hell starts below Haytor Rock and follows a hilly, circular route before returning once again to Haytor with a fast downhill finale to the finish opposite the middle car park at Haytor.

The approximately six-mile course is challenging, with several steep ascents and descents and is generally run across rugged, open moorland, apart from two sections in woodland; firstly below Hound Tor and secondly below Haytor, which includes a stream crossing.

All the athletes from Dartmouth Amateur Athletic Club were happy with their times, John Hart setting a personal best by five minutes and Nick completing his maiden race at this gruelling course.

Rupert Kempley finished 47th in 51:57, Nick Roberts came 60th in 53:55, John Hart crossed in 66th in 54:46 and Terry Wallis took 130th in 1:05:28.
