This week Stoke Fleming hosted Malborough at the village green.

Stoke had to make four last-minute changes because of injuries and other commitments, so in came Sam Quick, Oliver McGowan-Scanlon, Callum Dunn and Rob Bowers to the new-look Stoke squad.

Despite the changes, Fleming had a good 15-minute spell where Jackson Cudd broke clear, only to see his shot well saved by the Boro 'keeper.

After that it was a midfield battle where Boro just about had the edge without really causing Fleming any danger.

Boro had one real chance at a goal but a last-ditch block from Fleming's Luke Webber kept the score line at 0-0. Boro took the lead when goalkeeper Gordon Green brought down the striker and Boro converted the penalty.

The first half ended 1-0 to Boro.

Fleming pushed for an equaliser but nothing was really happening with their possession.

One real chance they did have was from a corner which was headed over from four yards.

From a Fleming corner the ball was cleared long up field and after a missed header and hesitation from Green, the Boro forward was allowed an easy finish to make it 2-0.

Fleming kept going and scored when James Shepherd fired home, only for a questionable offside call to be given and the goal was ruled out.

Still pushing, Fleming probably should have scored when a driving run from Webber and a nice pass put McGowan-Scanlon in, but he took too long to get a shot away and it was blocked and cleared.

The game ended 2-0 with Stoke feeling a little hard done by, but they did show a lot of fight despite the defeat.

Stoke's man-of-the-match was again Robbie Chalk, this week Stoke host Teign Village at home for a 2.30pm kick off.
