Last Friday evening saw members of Stoke Fleming Bowling Club attend their annual prize giving dinner at The Deer Park Inn.
After a warm welcome from the club's chairman, Tony Andrew, the forty-plus members and their guests sat down to a scrumptious meal laid on by the team at The Deer Park Inn.
This annual event is eagerly awaited by the members, as it not only provides a fitting and convivial end to their outdoor season, but also gives the club the opportunity to recognise its own champions.
Each of the competitions had been played for over the previous few months and as usual were keenly fought by all who took part.
The two most prestigious competitions in any club are of course the individual singles champions and this year that honour went to Phyl Dease for the ladies and Luke Bryant for the men; both will be representing the club in the national champion of champions competition next year.
Among the gathering of champions pictured above is also the winner of this year's Hutchinson Trophy; an award, voted for by the members, that recognises an individual's contribution to the club.
Although as normal there are many who give tirelessly to the club, this year that award went deservedly to John Haynes, who has been almost a permanent fixture at the green.
Following the presentations and a very successful draw, flowers were presented to the president's wife and the ladies who had provided the refreshments at the clubhouse throughout the season.
