And so winter golf grinds on at Dartmouth.

Yet another cold and wet day greeted the players, and with winds gusting to gale force you might think not many would be bothered.

As it turned out, 24 golfers showed up for the Wednesday circus. Associate member Mike Griffiths took the back nine on his own with 18 points, but the day undoubtedly belonged to Mark Lord, who tamed the course with his length and touch to score 21 points on the front and 36 overall to win the competition.

On Saturday the fourth round of the winter knockout was played.

David Brooking and Chris Eddowes kept their unbeaten record intact by beating Martin Howlett and Harry Lord.

Brian Mushens and David Thompson won against Alan Goldthorpe and Geoff Penhale.

Rob Knight and Sam Knight did their best to hang on to Mark Lord and Dave Nicholls, but they really got going on the back nine and played to six under par to win 6-5.

Kevin Eighteen's tee shot on the 14th ended up behind the big tree on the right, putting him in trouble, so thought Bob Wotton and John Garner.

He then took his second shot and drew it round the tree to land it on the fairway 140yds out.

From there he took his third shot, hit it sweetly and landed it to eight feet and sank the putt for a par to win the hole and go one up.

Bob Wotton had not been playing well until he stepped on to the tee on the 18th; one down with one to play, he hit his five iron to eight feet and sank the put to go all square and take the match to the 19th.

Two shots later he was 135yds out, no problem, landed it to nine feet and sunk the put for a welcome unexpected win.
