Sometimes we stand on the tee and wonder, 'what's going to happen today?'

Am I going to play well or will it be a disaster? How many times will I three putt? Will something happen that's never happened before?

In this case it was take a bow time for Mike Shalders, who sunk a 40ft putt on the eighth for an eagle. He's never had one of those before and the look of disbelief soon turned into a broad smile as it sunk in.

He was as chuffed as a dog with two tails, well played Mike.

The adventures continued when Kevin Eighteen three-putted from one foot, but John Garner went one better than that when he missed a putt that was sitting on the rim of the hole.

He went to tap it in but drew the putter over the top of the ball and missed it altogether, nobody laughed...

Kevin had some consolation as he shared the front nine with Steve Owen and John with 21, who also won overall with 39. Rob Berry had a good back nine and won that on his own with 19 points.

The forecast was not good for the Wednesday circus, but despite that over 20 players turned up hoping for a game. Indeed, everyone started, but it wasn't long before the heavens opened up and play was suspended.

That was a shame really as there was some good golf being played, especially by Lee Marels, who was two under gross for nine holes. He even putted out for par on the ninth although his ball was under water.
