A young Dartmouth athlete has been selected for the Devon Hockey Boys U14 Junior Academy Centre squad.

Louis Chapman from Townstal, Dartmouth, began training with Dartmouth Hockey Club juniors at the age of eight; however, when the junior section folded he pursued his love of sport through athletics and rugby. Louis is a keen sportsman who attends Churston Ferrers Grammar School, and he has represented them in athletics, cricket, water polo, football and rugby.

He plays rugby for Kingsbridge U13s and is in the south Devon U13s rugby junior development squad.  He is a member of Kingsbridge Cricket Club, Dartmouth Golf Academy and Dartmouth Athletics Club.  He has represented his county at athletics regionally and nationally and is currently the boys south Devon outdoor and Devon indoor champion at shot putt in his age group.

Louis' interest in the sport of hockey was re-ignited last summer when he was part of the team selected for hockey to represent the South Hams at the Devon Youth Games.

The South Hams boys hockey team went on to win silver at the games.  Following this, Louis joined Ashmoor Hockey Club in Ashburton, and his name was put forward to attend the Devon Hockey Junior Development Centre, and following a number of training sessions he was successful in the selection process. The Devon U14 boys JAC squad trains regularly at Exeter University and is preparing for their end-of-season tournament. From this tournament boys can then be selected to represent the West of England.
