Another strong field assembled for the midweek medal at Dartmouth; with the weather cooling down and the winds subsiding, good scores were expected and delivered.
Bruce Blackie was the best of the bunch, winning the competition with a net 74 playing off 22.
Second was Dave Nicholls on countback, third and showing signs of coming back into form was Adrian Rendle with 75. Fourth came Rob Barrett with 75 and fifth Paul Brown with 77.
Good weather greeted the players yet again on Saturday for the ultimate test that Dartmouth has to offer the Gold Grand Prix.
Lee Marels and Andrew Barr went out early and posted two outstanding scores.
Andrew Barr shot a stableford score of 33 but Lee Marels really stepped up to the mark and shot an incredible 40 points playing off one.
At the time of going to print these scores could not be verified as the competion has not yet been finalised, so full results will be printed next week.
The joint captain's day at Dartmouth put on for all members by Geoff Penhale and Jan Thomas-Gourd took place in great weather and high spirits.
In the ladies non-qualifying stableford, Tina Scanlan finished first with 37 points and also took a two on the third and won nearest the pin on third and 18th. In second was Trudy Knight, third Roz Forde and fourth Alison White.
The nearest to the pin on the seventh was Mary Thompson, the longest drive on the 16th was Roz Forde, the best front nine was Jan Cousins and the best back nine was Barbara Parkin.
The juniors were divided into two divisions. In the high handicaps division first went to Jo Nichols with 36 and second was Ben Jamieson with 28.
In the lower handicaps Jo Turner was first with 38, Stuart Harris second with 36, George Rickhuss third with 30 and Lorna Elliott fourth with 24. The best visitor was Rhydian Coward with 36 points. A great day for all.
