MALBOROUGH kicked off the new year with a goal frenzy, full of optimism and self belief they only had one thing in mind – a win at all costs.

Fifteen minutes had gone in the match when Nick Martin went steaming down the left flank and sent in a wicked cross to tempt the 'keeper off his line.

With precision timing, in ghosted Andy King to outjump him and head home for the opener.

The quick feet of Ashley Crow set up number two as he glided past two attackers and found Kielan Arblaster out wide, who in turn slipped the ball through to King.

King drew the 'keeper out of position before coolly tucking the ball under him.

Rob Hutchings proved to be a constant threat all afternoon, and when he turned on the after burners he left all for dead.

One such instance finished off with him whipping in a cross for Arblaster to volley home from the six-yard area for 3-0.

Arblaster then turned provider once more as he broke from midfield and chipped the ball over the defence for Mark Hallet to time his run and smash the ball home.

An air of invisibility surrounded Seth Gloyn in the home goal, setting up some sort of telepathic understanding with Gareth Mogan as they never put a foot wrong all afternoon.

Arblaster wasn't done yet as he once again outstripped the defence and squared to King, who completed his hat-trick.

However, he was still not finished as a Jamie Walsh corner saw him outjump everyone again to nod home his fourth of the afternoon.

Hutchings cut in from the left, unleashing a fierce drive that was only scrambled away to Matt Walters on the edge of the box for him to slot home through a crowd of players.

Arblaster took his tally of assists to four when he combined well with King before sending in a low cross for Walters to finish from close range.

Man of the match was Andy King and the match ball sponsor was Jewson Builders Merchants.
