Teign Women's 2nd XI. 0

Ashmoor Women's 1st XI. 7

ASHMOOR Women's first team bounced back from their narrow defeat at Okehampton to record their biggest win of the season away at Teign.

The opening exchanges were even, but once the young Ashmoor team opened the scoring through Emily Hunter on 20 minutes, there was no stopping them. Sophie Walker doubled the lead from a penalty corner, and Sophie Blee made it 3-0 to Ashmoor at halftime.

After the interval, the away side immediately went on the offensive, with Hunter scoring twice more in the first five minutes to register a hat trick.

Walker added her second goal of the game, before top scorer Tilly McEwen wrapped up the 7-0 victory.

Player of the match for Ashmoor was midfielder and hat-trick hero Emily Hunter.

The win moves the Ashmoor Women up to joint third in the table. There is a league break this weekend, before the team return to action on November 8 with a mouth-watering home match against the runaway league leaders Kingsbridge & Salcombe.

Ocean City Men's 1st XI. 3

Ashmoor Men's second team produced an excellent performance to deny league leaders Ocean City their 100% record, in an entertaining game that finished all square at 3-3.

In a lively start, Charles Walker gave Ashmoor the lead from a penalty stroke, although the lead was short-lived and the scores were tied at 1-1 at halftime. Ashmoor then fell behind five minutes after the restart, but Walker restored parity within minutes for 2-2.

As the half went on, the home side put together some good passages of play, and the pressure told when they earned a penalty corner. Captain Reuben Stanley dispatched it to give Ashmoor the lead for the first time in the game.

However, Ocean City were desperate not to lose their unbeaten record and managed an equaliser from a penalty corner of their own. Neither team could find a winner and the entertaining match finished with honours even.

This weekend is a regional league break, with Ashmoor Men's 2nd team returning to action against Bude on November 8. On Sunday, there is National League hockey with Ashmoor Men's 1st team travelling to face league leaders Chichester.

The Ashmoor Men's 3rd XI were also in action and gave a good account of themselves in the 'Totnes derby' against Dart 1st XI in their Riviera Division 1 encounter.

The strength of Ashmoor's junior programme was in evidence with Ashmoor fielding a squad with no fewer than nine teenagers! The youngsters acquitted themselves extremely well, going down 3-0, but with the Dart 1st team relying on two penalty corner goals to see them home.

Promising fourteen-year-old keeper Reuben Keeling earned the player of the match plaudits for a great display in goal for Ashmoor. The 3rd XI also have no match this weekend, before resuming league action when they host North Devon the following Saturday.
