Graham White and Bob Wotton played their quarter-final against Kevin Matthews and Jack Kirby last Monday evening.
Kevin had to play the first 11 holes on his own as Jack had work commitments.
After being four down at one point, Kevin managed to pull it back to two by the time Jack arrived.
The match was all square on the 15th, then Jack pulled out the big guns on the 16th and was on in two to win the hole and go one up.
They halved the 17th and lost the 18th to go all square and into extra holes. They halved 19 and 20 and teed off the 21st in fast-fading light.
Not sure quite where their tee shots were, they managed to find them on the green and Graham managed to two-putt to win the match, much to the delight of his playing partner Bob Wotton, who at that stage had played his 39th hole, having already played in the morning.
To say the weather was atrocious for last Wednesday's circus would be an understatement, Flooded greens, streams on the fairways, strong winds and stair-rod rain would make it impossible to play golf, you may think, but not if your name is Graham White.
Following his great win on Monday, he completed his round in four hours and fifteen minutes, scored 16 points on the front and an incredible 26 points on the back to score an amazing 42 points overall.
He also had the bizzare experience of having two putts float out of the hole.
Coming to the end of his round, he parred the 15th in the most outrageous fashion by sinking a 40ft putt that went through two steams on the green. He then proceeded to birdie the par five 16th, bogey the 17th and par the 18th to score 13 points in three holes. All in all, an amazing achievement.
The conditions for the monthly medal were much improved, and on Saturday Rob Barrett made the most of it and won with a great round of net 71.
Second was Stuart Harris with 73 on countback from Chris Eddowes in third on 73 and Kevin Eighteen in fourth on 73. Stuart Jamieson came in fifth, scoring 75.
