Dartmouth Golf Club men’s section
We are so lucky at Dartmouth, many courses up country are already on temporary greens, although the course is very wet all the greens are in play and there are only two mats to contend with writes John Garner.
Dartmouth plays very differently from front to back and it is always reflected in the scores.
John Thompson played a brilliant front nine to win with 21 points, but only scored eight on the back!
Paul Brown didn’t have a very good front nine but won the back with 18.
And then there is Mr (I can’t play golf) Owen! So distraught was he with his game that he pulled out of a trip last summer, since then he’s already won one circus and here he is winning again.
You know there’s something afoot when he walks into the clubhouse smiling, as he did last Wednesday.
The majority of the field only returned scores in the 20s but our Steve won the competition with a very solid 36 points.
Not only that, to everyone’s delight he also shared a two with Phil Brooking, making his day a very profitable one and yet he still wouldn’t share out any cheesy chips...
Unfortunately Saturday’s mixed circus and the first round of the winter knockout had to be cancelled as yet again the weather won!
