TWO games in three days meant that Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police had no time to lick their wounds after a pasting at the hands of Bovey Tracey AFC.
The Bees hosted title hopefuls Bovey at Broadley Lane on Saturday and were truly put to the sword, just days after long-time manager Sam Biscoe had announced his impending departure.
Biscoe penned a heartfelt letter to say goodbye to the club and he would have hoped for a far better result in his final game in charge.
Levi Landricombe opened the scoring for Bovey after just two minutes and seconds later, he made it two from the spot after a somewhat theatrical dive.
Cal Leech notched the third with five minutes on the clock and stalwart Lewis Perring then thundered home the fourth.
Landricombe completed his hat-trick before Stoke then got their consolation goal. The Moorlanders led 6-1 at the break and they added three more in the second half following a truly dominant display.
As previously mentioned, Stoke Gabriel had a swift turnaround with a visit from Bishops Lydeard on Easter Monday.
Bishops may be at the opposite end of the table to Bovey and Stoke but they’ve enjoyed a recent resurgence that saw them draw with the Bees at the end of February before beating Torrington AFC and Newton Abbot Spurs.
Their form shows no sign of letting up either as they dispatched Stoke Gabriel by two goals to nil.
After half an hour, Ed Stephens pounced on a mistake from goalkeeper Luke Adams to break the deadlock.
Then, with Stoke pushing for an equaliser, Bishops doubled their lead at the other end courtesy of a superb strike from Ethan Jones.
A poor Easter weekend has seen Spurs overtake Stoke and other teams move within striking distance.
