Dartmouth AFC U16s 0,

Newton Town U16s 3

Dartmouth welcomed Newton Town to Longcross in their last-ever game together before they move on to adult football next season.

In a highly entertaining game, full of chances for both teams, it was the visitors who showed more composure in front of goal to run out comfortable 3-0 winners.

The first half was only 11 minutes old when some slack defending allowed a Newton striker to open the scoring.

Minutes later Dartmouth almost equalised when a mazy run from Cameron Webb saw him beat four defenders before firing wide of the far post.

Tom Matthews then had a shot rebound back off the post before Newton doubled their lead with a goal from a corner.

Brad Williams had a great chance to pull a goal back when he cut in from the left wing and curled a shot inches over the crossbar.

Webb had another chance to pinch a goal on the stroke of half time, but volleyed Liam Wadeson's corner over.

The second half was only four minutes old when Town were awarded a penalty to extend the lead further.

Zac Fells was the guilty party with a trip on a striker inside the box. Aaron Morrison was sent the wrong way by the resulting spot-kick and the game was over a contest.

For all their efforts, the young Darts couldn't manage to snatch a goal, despite Connor Elliott going very close late on.

Even a penalty to Dartmouth in the dying seconds wasn't to change the score-line as Joe Turner's spot-kick was saved by the Newton goalkeeper and the final score stayed at 3-0.

The Dartmouth managers would like to say a big thank you to all the players, who have been magnificent over the course of nine seasons together.

Also thanks go to everyone who has helped out behind the scenes, in what has been an extremely memorable journey.

The supporters, who have there through thick and thin, will still be able to watch the boys when they play for the men's teams next season, from September onwards.
