SDFL division four Roselands 0, Dittisham United 4
On Saturday the Mighty Plums made the short trip accross the river Dart to face Roselands on the artificial 3G surface at Paignton Community College. The Plums again were severely depleted, with six key players missing through a combination of injuries, suspensions, and other commitments. The Plums were boosted by the inclusion of two new signings for their debuts. Aaron East made his competitive debut on the right flank and Simon Copeman slotted in up front for his debut. It took the Plums a good 10-15 minutes to adapt to the artificial pitch and the new formation that manager Daniel Bastin implemented for the match. The changed formation saw a new midfield partnership of Vicary and Bruckner, who dominated and dictated the play for their side and it was the latter that broke the deadlock 20 minutes into the match. After the Plums defence turned over a Roselands attack, Simon Passmore found Prestige in the middle of the park, who in turn fed Moss down the left flank. He outpaced his marker and squared the ball to the onrushing Bruckner who lifted the ball over the out-rushing 'keeper. For the second week running the Dittisham defensive line was unbreakable as they fought off every Roselands attack. Debutant Copeman was strong and held the ball up well for his team, feeding his strike partner Prestige. Wingers Moss and East offered great pace down the flanks and were a constant threat. It was Aaron East that created Dittisham's second goal of the afternoon. After good interplay in the middle, the industrious Dave Vicary found Jake Blamey, who released East down the right-hand side. He beat his man and delivered a quality ball into the box that was met with a deft touch from Prestige. After the interval, similar to the Plums' previous week's match against Meadowbrook, Roselands attempted to push further forward in order to get themselves back into the contest. The unbeaten defensive unit of goalkeeper Williams, Blamey, Martyn, Bastin, and Passmore, shepherded by Vicary in midfield, allowed the genuine pace within this Dittisham side to punish their opponents on the counter-attack. It was one of these counter-attacks that forced their third after Prestige shot was well saved but only into the path of Bruckner for his second. Dittisham continued to shut out their opponents throughout the second half and with 10 minutes to go absolutely made sure of the three points. Blamey found Bruckner from a short corner kick and his cross was headed excellently passed the Roselands by Prestige for his five goal in two matches. The man-of-the-match award went to Sam Bruckner for a fine performance.
