Petroc division one
Ashmoor 1,
Dartmouth 4
Dartmouth gave Ashmoor a golden start, but as soon as that goal went in the Darts turned on the style, giving a mouth-watering display of open-play hockey.
Jamie Rendle ran her heart out on the right-hand side and just missed out on player of the match for the second week running, as did Sam Webb on the left side.
Lisa Hunt and Di Bradley were unlucky not to get on the score sheet and Hannah Pillar put in her usual workmanlike shift.
Just two minutes from the start of the game, Ashmoor rushed down the right side, crossed the ball and were 1-0 up.
Dartmouth had a quick word with themselves and got their heads down and went for the jugular.
Within 10 minutes the left-hand link-up with Sam Webb and Sarah Barrett reaped rewards.
Barrett glided the ball into Lucy Pillar, Lucy slipped the ball to Jamie Rendle, who crossed into Ashmoor's D for Dartmouth assassin Lucy Pillar.
Pillar knew exactly where the back of the net was and smashed it past the Ashmoor 'keeper to level the scores.
A quarter of an hour later Dartmouth's right-wing combination of Lisa Hunt and Jamie Rendle were linking up again.
Jamie passed the ball to Lucy Pillar, who dribbled past Ashmoor's defence and bagged herself number two of the afternoon.
Dartmouth were unlucky not to score a couple more goals in the first half but with a resilient Ashmoor defence, Dartmouth were happy to go into half-time two goals to one up after their dodgy start.
Lucy Pillar asked the Dartmouth ladies to keep the intensity up for the second half and told them that they were the ones in control of the game and if they wanted it they could come away with a convincing win.
The match was just 10 minutes into the second half when Pillar was proved right, Dartmouth putting the pressure on the Ashmoor defence.
After a series of set-pieces, Chloe Edwards took a short corner to Lucy Pillar, who took the ball into the D and smashed it at the Ashmoor 'keeper, Edwards picking up the rebound and slotting the ball into the opposition's net.
Ashmoor can count themselves lucky not to have lost by more.
Jamie Rendle and Mandy Servan were both unlucky to hit the post, but Lucy Pillar wasn't finished with Ashmoor.
With 20 minutes gone, Sarah Barrett picked the ball up from deep and passed to Pillar, who was in striking form and hammered the ball into the back of the net to seal a very well-deserved hat-trick.
From then on it was a case of damage-limitation for Ashmoor and they decided to park the bus, lorry and anything else they could to stop the Dartmouth onslaught.
Dartmouth went close a couple more times, but the final score was to be four goals to one in Dartmouth's favour.
Dartmouth take on Teign seconds at Teignmouth this Saturday. Teign seconds beat ISCA V 9-0 last week and will be a good test for Dartmouth.
