League Cup

AFC U14s 4,

Waldon Athletic 2

This League Cup tie saw the high-flying Darts welcome a Waldon side who have also made a good start to the season and in a very entertaining game, Dartmouth always looked in control of the contest.

They even managed to score their fastest-ever goal, which arrived after only seven seconds of play.

Straight from the kick-off Liam Wadeson played the ball down the right side, where Cameron Webb controlled well before playing a smart one-two with Jamie Burrows before finishing neatly.

Tom Matthews, Solley Metchette and Charlie Blair were all playing well and creating chances. In the 20th minute the second goal came from Webb, who fired home from the edge of the area.

In the last five minutes of the first half, all of Dartmouth's good work nearly went out the window.

The score became 2-1 when Blair was robbed of possession and the striker rolled the ball past Morrison, before almost equalising a minute later.

The second half was end-to-end once more, but it was the home side who scored next.

A quick throw-in from Joe Turner was flicked inside to Wadeson by Webb. The skipper raced down the left channel and cut inside to curl his shot brilliantly around the 'keeper for 3-1.

The visitors kept up the pressure and 10 minutes later they reduced the lead.

In the final quarter of the match Matthews was gifted the ball by a loose goalkick from the Waldon 'keeper and slotted home calmly.

There was even still time for Webb to earn and then miss a penalty. Nevertheless, this was a fine performance from the whole Dartmouth squad. The Dartmouth match ball was kindly sponsored by Sarah Dunn.

This Sunday it's back to the league programme with a trip across to Brixham AFC with kick-off at 12:30pm.
