SDFL Division One

Dartmouth AFC 2

THIS was Allington's first defeat since early November, in very difficult conditions with a strong gusting wind it was the visitors who settled best and they took a 10th minute lead.

Allington at times tried to force it instead of looking after the ball better, but gradually they got back into the game, Ben Robey slotting home the equaliser at the near post.

Seth Gloyn in the visitors' goal then pulled off a double save to deny Simon Hannaford as the first half ended all square. The second half was much the same, with both sides failing to create many goal-scoring chances.

Dartmouth got the winner when a long ball down field was trying to be ushered over the by-line by centre-back Matt Duffy, but he was robbed by an opponent who crossed it into the box for an onrushing team mate to blast home. Allington tried to respond but came up short.

This week East Allington are at home to Chudleigh, 2.30pm kick-off.

The reserves travel to Waldon reserves. Players to meet at 12.45pm.
