Petroc division one

Teign seconds 1

Dartmouth leapfrog Teignmouth into sixth place following a solid performance in a match of plentiful opportunities.

With only eleven players to call on and a slight tweak to the line-up, Dartmouth did well to press Teign hard in the early stages and Sam Webb was unlucky as she hit the post during an early attack.

Left-half Lisa Hunt worked well linking up with winger Alix Vincent who, despite her size, battled gamely to force her way past defenders and gain a short corner.

The subsequent hit from the top D by Lucy Pillar was defended by the goalie, but Chloe Edwards was on hand to pick up the rebound to open the scoring.

Teign hit back hard, particularly down the left where in-form player of the match Bonny Chivers was on hand to defend virtually all that came her way.

As usual, Dartmouth countered at pace and a quickly taken free hit inside the Teign half by Chloe Edwards, allowed sister Siobhan to move the ball onto Lucy Pillar, who was as deadly as usual in calmly despatching for number two.

An expectant home support looked forward to more goals, but Teign were the next to score as stand-in goalie Hannah Pillar gave away a penalty following a mis-timed tackle on a Teign forward.

The second half was fairly even despite Dartmouth's Jamie Rendle and Sam Webb providing numerous chances for further goals, but the home forwards just could not get on the end of the crosses when it mattered.

With Dartmouth safe in Petroc 1, they look forward to their final match against Sidmouth and Ottery who, despite their league position, are having a strong finish to the campaign.
