As Stuart Broad and Jimmy Anderson were finishing off NZ at Lords, the DA were exacting similar pain on the Seale Arms.
On an overcast and showery afternoon, the DA won the toss and elected to bat, reasoning that the wicket would deteriorate quickly in the bad weather.
The two DA openers, Marcus Copeman and Andy Jessop, got off to a fine start, with plenty of quick singles in a spread out field.
As is customary in this league, batsmen have to retire at 25, and Andy Jessop was the first to reach that milestone. Jamie Bayley came in and continued the good work and was soon back in the pavillion after scoring a lightning quick 25*.
Marcus Copeman, who was rotating the strike superbly, soon followed as the DA were cruising with the aid of some wayward bowling and myriad extras.
By the time the first wicket went down, they had already amassed 110 runs after only 10 overs, and the prospects for the Seale Arms looked bleak.
Saif Rahman and Ed Rahman kept up the run rate, Saif making his 25 in style, and Ed unlucky to be given out by the controversial 'mankad' rule, where the batsman is run out by the bowler before the ball is delivered.
The run rate never dipped, and the DA finished off with the outstanding total of 210-4, a record in this league.
In the face of such a score, the Seale Arms were always going to be struggling, and one or two of them may have been praying for more of the rain that fell earlier in the day. It was not to be, however, as the weather started to clear.
They got off to a poor start with several wickets falling in the first few overs – the strike partnership of Lawrence Shields and Saif Rahman doing the damage as they finished with two wickets each after their two overs.
Freddy Prettyjohns was the only player from the Seales who amassed a decent score, hitting some big sixes on the way to his 25. Unfortunately, the rest of the team were not as effective.
It's not often in this form of cricket that a team can afford the luxury of being able to field two or three slips, let alone the six that were crowding the bat in a particularly memorable spell of the innings.
Wickets continued to fall regularly and Grayham Bayley wrapped up the innings with his second wicket in the 15th over.
The Seales were all out for 66, giving the DA the win by 154 runs, another record for this league.
The man-of-the-match award was given to Andy Jessop for his score of 28* and two wickets for three runs.
The captains would like to thank all that turned up to watch, Pete Foster and Jim Brent for their hard work on the wicket, and Brian Harriss for his organisation of the umpires.
