The Regatta road race, now in its 37th year, saw 164 adults and 30 juniors tackle the course, cheered on by the enthusiastic crowd of spectators. This year's race proved a challenging experience for one young competitor. Tom Horrell-Tidbury, 11, from Ash, Aldershot, entered the youth road race on Saturday for the first time. His father Ceri said his son set off with the other runners, but unfortunately he was tripped up and fell to the ground quite heavily, grazing his elbow and knee. 'He was obviously upset and disappointed, but he picked himself up and continued on with the race, trying to catch up with the other runners,' he said. 'Despite his fall, he continued on and came over the finish line in seventh place. 'The Mayor Rob Lyon asked to meet Tom and insisted on shaking his hand and was very impressed with his determined attitude. 'Both Tom's grandfathers are local residents and have been for many years.'
