This was followed in the clubhouse by a raffle, guess the name of teddy bear and other entertainments, all of which raised the sum of £250 for this year's chosen charity, the Devon Air Ambulance Trust. Sue Tweed collected the cheque on behalf of the the trust and presented Sheila Joy with her trophy. On Thursday, July 24, the ladies of Dart/Stoke played a match in the ladies' Devon league away at Bitton Park. The triple of V Ruddle, S Joy and skip V Gregory were only 4-6 down at five ends, but found themselves 4-17 down at 10 ends and only managed to score five shots to BP's nine over the second half of the match to lose by 9-26. The triple of A Wilson, P Lamble and skip G Bowden never got to grips in their game and were 1-10 down at five ends. They went further behind after 10 ends and were 4-18 down, before managing to score six shots to BP's seven over the second half. However, this wasn't enough to prevent them losing 10-25. One light at the end of the tunnel was the triple of R Paynter, P Dease and skip C Wotton, who won their match 21-16, giving Dart/Stoke two valuable points. They were 4-8 down at five ends, but got back to 11-10 up at 10 ends before BP fought back to be 15-15 at 15 ends. Dart/Stoke managed to score six shots to BP's one over the last three ends to close out the match 40 shots to 67, giving Dart/Stoke two points. Also on the evening of July 24, Dartmouth men were away at Stoke Fleming for the return match of the annual trophy for these two clubs. Taking a four-shot lead from the home match played on June 17, Dartmouth had it all to do to beat S/F on their ground. However, Dartmouth managed it in the end, winning by an overall score in the two matches of 136 to 126, giving them the trophy to polish for another year. On Saturday, July 26, Dartmouth's men's team played a match in the MDL away at Brixham A. This was going to be a hard match to win as Brixham A have been doing well in the league. The rink of  J Bowden, S Ivey, H Crossman and skip W Varnam were 4-6 down at five ends, 5-15 down at 10 ends and 7-21 at 15 ends. Things never got better over the last six ends as they scored three shots to Brixham's 14 to lose 10-35. The rink of A Hawkins, T Hawken, R Swinden with skip D Sherlock were doing well in their match right up to the 19th end, when they were 19-15 up. However, the wheels fell off on the last two ends when they managed to drop 11 shots to lose the match 19-26. The rink of M Durston, R Lambden, M Gregory and skip P Hannaford found themselves 8-18 down at 15 ends before both sides scored four shots apiece over the last six ends, giving Brixham a winning score of 22-12. The final match was a triples team for Dartmouth as they could only field 15 players. Nonetheless, the trio of T Deighton, P Caddy and skip M Hawkins gave it their all, slipping 5-6 down at five ends but going 15-8 up at 10 ends. At 15 ends they were 24-8 up, but they only managed to score seven shots to BP's 11 over the last six ends to win their match by 31-19. As they only fielded three players, they had to lose 25 per cent of their score, but even with this ruling they still managed to win the match by 231/4 to 19. This gave Dartmouth a valuable two points to BR's 12 and a 641/4 to 102 shot difference to Brixham.
