Petroc Division 1
Dartmouth 4, Sidmouth and
Ottery 2nds 2
Dartmouth captain Lucy Pillar put in a player of the match performance by smashing home all four of Dartmouth's goals in a hard fought encounter.
The home side had the worst possible start as they went a goal down from a short corner within two minutes – but it certainly stung them into action.
Very quickly Dart-mouth went on the offensive and a through ball to Lucy Pillar saw her draw the defence wide to the right of the D before letting go a delightful strike to equalise.
Dartmouth had to soak up some serious pressure and the home defence had poor day for giving away penalty corners, but they def-ended well with goaline clearances from Chloe Edwards and some great saves from goalie Ellie Malley.
They did finally crack though, letting one in from a goalmouth scramble. With Jaz Harvey returning, Dart's midfield looked much stronger as she linked well with both forwards and fellow mids Siobhan Edwards and Jamie Rendle who made some great probing runs to find their forwards.
One such move produced the third goal before halftime. An initial shot was scuffed by the goalie right in front of Lucy, who pushed it in for her hat trick.
Sidmouth and Ottery started the second half strongly and once again Dartmouth had to soak up the pressure with backs Lisa Hunt and Hannah Pillar keeping busy.
This was supported with fast counter attacks via wings Di Bradley and Sam Meyer which finally led to goal four as Lucy did not fail in front of goal.
Dartmouth were more comfortable now in possession, yet still mindful of the danger posed as they played on to secure their first win of the season.
