Pleasant conditions prevailed yet again for the Wednesday circus and it wasn't long before Bob Wotton took advantage.

After taking a break from golf to gather in his harvest, he was soon back to winning ways, scoring 12 points in four holes, which helped him on his way to a share of the back nine with Steven Blackie on 22.

Also showing a return to form after a three-month break, Bob Cottam shared the front nine with Bruce Blackie with 18. The winner overall was Martin Whybrow with 37.

On Saturday the fourth round of the Gold Grand Prix was played. Always a difficult task to play because of its length, the results show how well the top five played.

Playing off 18, Dave Nicholls won with a very impressive round, scoring 37. In second off 10 was Harry Lord with 36, third off scratch was Lee Marels with 34, fourth off three was Andrew Barr with 32 and fifth off two was Mark Lord with 29.

On Sunday the last away match in the league was played at Okehampton. It is always a difficult task to play well away, especially at Okehampton as there are a lot of blind shots where club selection is crucial.

The top three pairings were all tight games, Andy Dix and David Brooking lost 2-1, Harry Lord and Kevin Matthews stood on the 18th tee all square, a brilliant effort in itself.

However, neither of them expected their opposition to put the second shot to an inch for a birdie and win the match one up.

There is no doubt about the highlight of the day though, as Ian Metchette and Gordon Kidd won their game in blistering form 6-5 against a pair that were undefeated for three seasons, so well played.

Bob Wotton and Steven Blackie lost 6-5, as did the final pairing of Syd Parkes and Stuart Harris. There are now only two games left in the Dartmoor League and club captain Geoff Penhale would be delighted to win them and finish mid-table.
