Wednesday's midweek medal offered up more adventures as usual, with Rob Knight hitting the wrong ball twice while Andy Birss had one of his worst rounds ever, shooting 101 writes John Garner.

Looking on the positive side, even though he played five off the tee on the eighth he went round with the same ball...

It came as no surprise, though, that Barry O'Shea won the competition.

For some time now the comments directed to Barry have been: 'How come your handicap's 20 when you can hit the ball that far?'

Well played Barry, at least your handicap's going the right way from 20 to 19.

In second Lea Humphries' 70 meant he is down to single figures from 10 to 9, third Paul Dunkerley 71, who goes from nine to eight, fourth Mark Beal 72, fifth Rob Isaacs Berry 73.

There were two twos, both on the 18th, most unusual, by Paul Dunkerley and Rob Knight.

At the weekend the monthly stableford was played in beautifull conditions, warm air with not a breath of wind made for high scoring and our club captain came up trumps again.

He's been playing consistently well for some time now and again he excelled at the weekend, winning the stableford competition with 42points.

In second was David Thompson 40, third Simon Knight 39, fourth Dave Nicholls 39 and fifth Sam Knight 38.

Congratulations to Dave as his fourth place guarantees him an unassailable lead in the Dartmouth Man and makes him the most consistent player of the year.

Commiserations go to Lea Humphries, he failed to reach the buffer zone and goes back up to 10, never mind though, with a few cold beers in the fridge and a warm bed to sleep in life ain't so bad. There were six twos, five of which were on the fifth, by Pete Ford, Mike Griffiths, Joe Nicholls, Steve Owen, Joe Turner and John Wood on the third.
